متن کاملAspirin and salicylate induce apoptosis and activation of caspases in B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells.
We analyzed the effect of aspirin, salicylate, and other nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) on the viability of B-chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) cells. Aspirin induced a decrease in cell viability in a dose- and time-dependent manner. The mean IC50 for cells from 5 patients was 5.9 +/- 1.13 mmol/L (range, 4.4 to 7.3 mmol/L). In some cases, 2.5 mmol/L aspirin produced an importan...

in many models of programmed cell death, the mitochondrial protein aif translocates to the nucleus, where it induces the chromatin condensation and dna degradation. however, today it is well established that this flavoprotein is bifunctional. in addition to its lethal function in the nucleus of dying cells, aif plays a vital bioenergetic role in healthy ones by regulating mainly the activity of...

متن کامل[Apoptosis in pathogenesis of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia].
B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL), a clonal expansion of B CD5+ cells, is the most frequent type of adult leukemia in western countries. Accumulation of neoplastic B-cells is caused not by their higher proliferation rate, but by their prolonged life-span due to dysregulation of apoptosis. Many proteins act as inducers or inhibitors in controlling apoptosis. A high level of antiapoptot...
